The Secret to lasting weight loss has very little to do with what diet or exercise program you begin
today. It has everything to do with the way that you think. As a physician my specialty is helping
people with physical aches and pains. I mostly treat back pain, neck pain, headaches and other joint related
problems. My philosophy of health care is to get lasting correction of structural problems in the body by
addressing the cause of the problem. In contrast most of the medical community is interested only in addressing the
immediate symptoms you are experiencing. If you don’t believe me ask yourself what would happen if a person
taking medication for any of the common health problems of your day stopped taking the medication. In nearly
every instance the symptoms for which they are taking the medication would still be there. The medication
only controls the symptoms. It never corrects the problem.
Weight loss is very similar. Excess weight is the symptom and diets are the medication. There are
literally hundreds of variations of different methods to lose weight. Most of them work..... short
term. Statistically in this country the vast majority of those methods fail in the long run. Data
from the centers for Disease control bears this out. Obesity rates have risen every year since 1985. We
now have states where there more than 30 percent of the population is obese!
So why aren't these hundreds of different diet methods successful and what separates the people who are successful
from those who aren't.
The answer lies in the mind. Our thoughts control our actions. Some people become so committed to a
certain diet that they commit to it as a lifestyle and it becomes the way they think from that point on. It becomes
a part of who they are. For most it's hard to say why this happens. Maybe its just luck, but it does happen
every day in the world that a small number of people somehow make the mental shift that allows them to behave
differently from that point on in their life without a huge effort of willpower. When it happens, it is life
changing. Suddenly your relationships begin to improve, you lose weight, and you become more
successful. The good news is you don’t have to wait for luck or a bolt of lightning to strike for you
to create that same type of lasting change in your life.
